StaplePlus is a Ghanaian food technology company. We take the staple foods people already eat every week and improve what is inside them, adding protein and fibre, without changing the taste or the way you cook.
We work at the flour level, changing what goes into a food rather than asking anyone to eat something new.
We find what a staple is missing, put it back using crops grown in Ghana, then test it with people who eat that food every week. If the taste fails, it does not leave the kitchen.
The same method applies to other Ghanaian staples. Soy Banku Mix is on sale now; more are in development.
Three things go in: soy, maize and cassava. Nothing else. The soy is what makes the difference. It brings the protein and fibre that plain banku does not have.
Protein is what your body uses to build and repair itself: muscle, skin and blood. Soy adds it back into a food that never had much.
Fibre helps your digestion move the way it should, and helps a meal sit better and last longer in the stomach.
Protein and fibre slow down how fast starch turns into sugar in your blood. That means a gentler rise instead of a sharp jump.
Same pot, same stirring stick, same texture on the plate. No new recipe, and nobody at the table needs an explanation.
Soy, maize, cassava. That is the whole list. Nothing added to make it sit longer on a shelf.
Soy, maize and cassava all grow in Ghana. Nothing is imported, so the price stays where families can reach it.
A product like this only works if it passes the taste test with people who already know exactly what banku should taste like. So that is who we gave it to.
Regular banku eaters, plus restaurant kitchens and shop counters that serve it daily.
Taste, texture and how it compared with the banku they normally eat and cook.
We will message you on WhatsApp as soon as Soy Banku Mix reaches a shop near you. Thank you for helping us decide where to go next.
Better nutrition should not mean giving up the food you grew up on.
Staple foods carry most of what Ghanaians eat every day. They are affordable and familiar, but thin on protein and fibre.
Imported supplements cost too much, and unfamiliar health foods ask people to give up meals their families have eaten for generations.
Improve what goes into the staple and the nutrition changes on its own — no new habits, no new recipes, nothing to give up.

Stir the flour into cold water before any heat. This is what stops lumps forming.
